Atlanta’s home for underground, independent and experimental film since 2004

For more than 20 years, Atlanta Underground Film Festival has been a place for independent and underground filmmaking. AUFF highlights stories that live outside the mainstream and gives space to filmmakers who take risks and create work their own way.
Each August, AUFF screens shorts, features, documentaries, animation and experimental films from Atlanta and around the world. The focus is simple. Show fresh ideas, raw vision and honest filmmaking.

Filmmakers choose AUFF because we support independent voices and champion new work. Audiences come because they know they will see something real, surprising and different from what plays in traditional theaters.
The 23rd Annual AUFF takes place August 7 to 9, 2026 at Limelight Theater in Atlanta.
If you want to be part of Atlanta’s underground film community or you are looking for a festival that values creativity over budget, this is your place.

It was an amazing experience! The screening went so well, and we connected with so many talented filmmakers from around the world. The festival far surpassed our expectations.
Showing up because my short film was a selection with zero expectations and walking home with an award in my hands was a highlight of my life. This festival cares about the film community and I plan on returning again and again!!
First off the bat-Kelsey and Amy are incredible hosts. I cannot stress enough that they are the best in the game.
My film premiered to a completely packed out showing(which I also have to credit the ff for promoting), which I was eternally grateful for. I had the best time! See you next year!
I'm a huge fan of the Atlanta film festival series. The teams are so warm and responsive. It's clear they love films and filmmakers. I'm honored and grateful to have been a part -- and encourage fellow filmmakers to submit.
We are so grateful to have had "One NIght Cherub" at Atlanta Underground. The festival was a true delight with indie artists telling stories they believed in and that mattered. Amy and Kelsey were delightful programmers and demonstrated they have an eye for thoughtful, underground art. It's a joy to attend and I recommend people enjoy Atlanta Underground.
I had such a great time at this one. Well attended with audiences eager to see some off the wall films! Nice venue close to plenty of downtown hotels. The organizers and staff are the absolute coolest. Programming was top notch. Hard to beat Atlanta's southern hospitality.
Parking in the Pencil Factory Loft parking deck and street parking is available. We validate parking at the theater. Please see the front desk for details.
